Child Health Check-ups (EPSDT)

Background

Child Health Check-ups are a part of the federally mandated Early & Periodic Screening, Diagnosis & Treatment (EPSDT) program. These preventive health screenings, as well as diagnosis and treatment of health conditions and disabilities are provided to children and teens, age 20 or younger, enrolled in Oklahoma Medicaid.

Providers offer screening, vision, hearing and dental services according to a Periodicity Schedule that meets reasonable standards of medical and dental practices. Services include physicals, eye and hearing exams, dental exams, nutritional review, lead screening, lab tests and screening for speech, behavioral health and substance abuse problems.

Eligible Providers

Child Health Check-ups are performed by, or under the supervision of, a contracted SoonerCare physician, dentist, or other qualified health care provider (i.e., state licensed nurse practitioner or state licensed physician assistant).
