What We Do

The Medical Professional Services Unit of the OHCA is responsible for medical input in the development of standards of care, policy, protocols and guidelines. The unit also provides final analyses of complicated denied medical claims and serves as expert witnesses in matters of legal appeals and reviews to ensure services rendered to SoonerCare members are medically necessary.

The physicians validate that services adhere to national standards of care, coding, OHCA policies and evidence-based tests and technologies that have proven impact on positive health outcomes.
